TAP Stars is a true success! Since the programme was launched, on March 14 – 73rd TAP birthday – around 2200 people were recognized by colleagues.
Most employees recognized belong to the Operations area (near one thousand stars assigned). In terms of functional groups, technicians and assistants – cabin crew, maintenance technicians, commercials and assistants – are the ones who recognize their colleagues the most.
The programme was announced by the Company's CEO, Antonoaldo Neves, who challenged the employees to recognize the colleagues who make the biggest difference in their daily work. The challenge was clearly accepted: between March 14 and 31, about 1959 people awarded their first star and, in the first five days of April, 215 had recognized colleagues in this way.
At the ceremony of TAP's 73rd annniversary, Antonoaldon Neves announced the new TAP Stars programme.
Vera Batista, from the Employer Branding Department, reveals that the employees’ feedback has been very positive and considers that "the attribution of a star should be a special moment in which we recognize a colleague’s attitude and to lose that opportunity is to let slip a moment when we value and thank that person. TAP’s culture and attitude are also distinguished by the way we take care of our colleagues." For Vera, it is also important that leaders use the power of their stars to make a difference and to recognize the work that people do in their respective areas.
The trend has been, in this first month of the program, to assign stars within the same business area and functional group. It is natural that people tend to initially recognize their partners, those with whom they deal most directly and often. Over the next few months, however, it is expected that this trend will be diluted and that the employees will gradually begin to attribute this recognition to colleagues in more distinct areas with whom they interact.
TAP Stars is an internal recognition programme that allows any employee to recognize a colleague, regardless of hierarchy, by their work and exceptional attitudes, who help them to do their job better.
Each employee can assign one star per month, in four recognition categories: Availability; Excellence; Positive Attitude and Innovation/Creativity. Since its launch, most of the stars awarded have been in the Excellence category – close to 950 stars – which focus proactivity, efficiency and innovation to achieve exceptional results, a culture of service and exceeding expectations.
