Rita and Daniela Casal, 23 years of age, are identical twins, but they have much more in common than their appearance. In addition to sharing the same hobbies, they also share the same occupation. The Casal sisters (how their colleagues affectionately treat them), are Flight Attendants.
"Since we were born, everything we do is shared. It's natural to do everything together.", Rita admitted to What's|UP.
They did not get into TAP at the same time despite they share all their important moments. On a day like so many others, they both decided to apply for Flight Assistants. A choice and a wish fulfilled in 2017, the year in which they entered the Company. When the two were selected in September of last year, Rita was on a trip through the United States. Alone, Daniela proceeded. Rita eventually started her training.
The love for aviation seems to be inscribed in the DNA of the Casal family. It was a relative who shared with them the passion for the sky. However, it was no coincidence that they discovered the occupation they have since the age of 19.
“Being Flight Assistants wasn’t a childrens’ dream. We decided to try it, see what it was, and we loved it since then. We can’t let go of it”, the twins said.
Casal twins are easily mistaken by those who do not know them well. Therefore, to avoid embarrassments, most people make a "distrustful" approach, in the words of the two sisters, which always starts with the same question, "Are you Rita or Daniela?". They have been accustomed to answer this question for a long time.
And even those who live with both of them daily, have confused them. It is at the Crews Terminal (TTA) that these episodes happen more often. "We are repeatedly mistaken by our colleagues. They come to me, convinced that I am my sister and vice versa. It's funny because they have conversations that do not concern the person they're talking to” Daniela says.
On the plane, on the other hand, the reactions of the passengers are a bit more restrained. It is in the demonstrations that the two sisters notice the confused passengers when they see two identical Flight Attendants. "Curiously, the passengers do not question us, they get shy. When we realize that they are confused, we take the initiative to clarify that we are identical twins. The reaction of surprise is immediate and, of course, we get smiles out of the passengers "Ana Rita says.
