Fernando Pinto arrived at TAP in october of 2000, at a time when the company operated only for 38 destinations, with 35 aircrafts and had 110 million euros in negative results. It had the lead goal of preparing the company for its privatization, a mission that was accomplished two years ago, closing one chapter of TAP's history and opening another, a new cycle of the company’s growth.
17 years of challenges and resilience tests as well as countless national and international awards for the recognition of Fernando Pinto’s work and the company he led.
As of today, TAP’s dimension, in the hands of Fernando Pinto, has almost tripled, among revenues, passengers, routes and airplanes. Currently the network covers 83 destinations in 34 countries worldwide, with a fleet of 88 aircrafts. And soon, new state-of-the-art airplanes.
Leaving the Company’s "commands", Fernando Pinto was keen to personally visit hundreds of Employees to their workstations, thanking in a direct and personalized way what they did for TAP over the years. "It's not a goodbye, it's a see you soon", the former Executive President said to those who addressed to him in tears.
Mutual words of success, appreciation, comfort and motivation were exchanged between Fernando Pinto and the workers, a long and heartfelt farewell shared by all.
