TAP participated, once again, in FITUR, the most important Spanish tourism exhibition, which took place between 17 and 21 january, with emphasis on the Company’s new that were announced for 2018.
For this year, the Company has announced new reinforcements in the operation between the two countries, with emphasis on the opening of its new route between Oporto and Barcelona, in march, with two daily flights, departing at 6:30 AM (TP1030) and at 7:35 PM (TP1034). It is, of equal importance, the creation of a third daily flight between Lisbon and Seville, which will operate during all summer and enhance the possibilities of connecting with the remaining TAP network.
TAP leads in Spain
The Company consolidated, in the last year, its leadership on the transportation of passengers between Portugal and Spain, with the launching of new daily flights from Lisbon and destined to Alicante and Gran Canaria, and with the reinforcement of the operation between Lisbon and Valencia, with more six weekly frequencies, and between Madrid and Oporto, with more five weekly frequencies.
The Spanish market keeps, this way, its huge importance for TAP and represents, nowadays, 12 per cent of its total traffic, an increase of two percentage points in just one year. The flights occupancy rate in these routes is 85,5 per cent and the connections that the Lisbon's hub allows to the remaining TAP's network, in particular, to North America, Brazil, Venezuela and Africa, not forgetting Azores and Madeira, are important to mark.
Nowadays, TAP operates an amount of 217 weekly flights between Portugal and Spain, serving eleven Spanish airports: Alicante, Asturias, Barcelona, Bilbao, Coruña, Gran Canaria, Madrid, Malaga, Seville, Valencia and Vigo. There are more 23 flights compared to a year ago and 43 compared to 2016.
