TAP’s professional training is changing and TAP University is born. To continue the work that has been made since 1945, really associated with the history of the Company, and to begin a new and ambitious project – TAP University –, Ana Assunção left the Direction of the Program of Innovation and Digitalization of Human Resources to get on board of this new mission.
WHAT’S|UP talked with the new responsible for the area of Professional Training of TAP to know her journey in the Company and to know her plans for this area that she just joined, in a month when there were 29 trainers certified inside TAP’s family.
Graduated in Applied Mathematics in the Sciences Faculty of the Lisbon University, Ana Assunção arrive at TAP in 1986, being a part of the IT area for more than a decade. In 2000, she began her 12-year journey in the Human Resources of Groundforce where, she says, lived moments – good and bad – that marked her forever.
In July of 2012, Ana returned to TAP as the Head of the Optimization and Performance – Continuous Improvement area and, in the end of last year, was invited to lead the Program of Innovation and Digitalization of the HR Area, launched by Luiz Mór.
The passion for training
Ana Assunção just arrived at the area of Professional Training, where will lead the TAP’s University project. When questioned about what she loves in this area, her answer is clear: “Everything”. Here, she says, has the opportunity to do only good things, that she likes to do, and that will have positive impacts in people. “To teach, to pass knowledge to someone, to develop something together enchants me”. She sees the professional training as essential to the process of the Company’s culture transformation and she’s getting ready to present a lot of changes in the area.
Continuity and Innovation – TAP’s University
The new project of Corporate University – UniTAP – will have to assure two distinct lines of action. On one side, the area has to guarantee the continuity of answering the needs of a training that is specific, technic and obligatory, essentials to the operation of the Company. On the other, UniTAP will follow the current trends of the market, in the training area, organized by schools – that will correspond to different areas of the Company – supported in two basic pillars: Leadership & Management and Organizational Culture and Customer Experience.
About the first one, it’s intended to create programs that, on one hand, can develop our leaderships and, on the other, can train the future leaders of the Company. The second pillar is, in Ana Assunção’s word, a critic point in our Company and one of the most required, in the training level, by all areas in TAP. It’s intended to, in this way, proactively create programs of development “that satisfy tomorrow’s needs”, she states. For example, mentions the classes of ab initio of TMA that will be necessary by 2020, but there has been already thinking about them today.
Finally, where will continue to be guaranteed all trainings “that build the men and women TAP”, for example in the areas of IT, Health and Security, evaluating the internal needs ahead and creating pluriannual plans according to these needs.
The key for the success, according to the responsible, will be the dedication of the team that has been, in this early phase, showing a great interest and cooperation in the making of this project. It will also be necessary to optimize the processes inside the area, that will have new functions and new challenges to comply.
The logic of this new structure should be, precisely, like a University, that responds to a central basis, but lives on its several Schools that, in TAP, correspond to business areas. One example – probably the first one to be made – will be the ME School, that will cover all trainings concerning to the specific needs of the Maintenance and Engineering area.
“New blood” in Professional Training
“TAP’s richer now that you are trainers”. This is how Pedro Ramos, Director of Human Resources of TAP Group, open, in the past 7th of December, the ceremony for the certifications to TAP Employees that finished this year the Primary Pedagogic Training for Trainers. There were 29 trainers, coming from several areas of the Company, that are a symbol on the renovation that this area of the Company is living.
For Ana Assunção, there are the “multipliers of knowledge” that will give the solidity to the trainers staff already existing, but that will continue to do functions in the respective areas, so that they can modernize and develop themselves in their fields, in a way to, when “called” to train other colleagues, be more able and informed to do so, “because that’s what makes them richer in knowledge to share with others”, states.
