The TAP Station Managers’ Meeting happened in Monte Real, Leiria, between 12nd and 14st of November. With 47 participants – that represent our Company all over the world – the base theme of this edition was punctuality and the opening of the event was made by Sami Foguel, Vice-President of Operations and Cargo of the Company. Talking about TAP’s strategy, that has been a success – since the creation of Lisbon’s HUB to the bet on the North-American market – the challenge was put on the table: the numbers referring to the Company’s punctuality must improve.
“The responsibility of putting the aviation on schedule is from each one of the participants” were the words of Sami Foguel and this was the defiance for the rest of the meeting. Assuming his role of helping, Sami appealed to the report for the improvement of situations that a lot of times can’t be resolved by unfamiliarity.
In her intervention, Vilma Varga da Silva, Airport Services Director, promised changes and anticipated a 2018 full of challenges, assuring however that the work will begin now. Between the changes that must be made, the highlights are the change of ways of working and the removal of the administrative component in Stations, so that the focus can be the right one, as well as the sending of reports: “We need to baptize the problems and not accept that it is the way it is. The problems resolutions have to come out of the paper”.
Assuming that the experiences of the Station Managers is essential for our success – in the words of Sami Foguel, they are the “heart of aviation” – the meeting was full of activities so that the participants could walk in the Clients shoes: from lost “luggage” and shoes in the wrong size to a bad service in the restaurant. The message was clear: difficulties are always going to exist; it is up to each one of us to continue guaranteeing the Client’s satisfaction.
