TAP was in the first place of the table of the Ranking of Internationalization of Portuguese Enterprises (RIEP) related to the “number of countries where enterprises possess subsidiaries”. The Company, that was in the third place in 2016, among 21 countries, was in the first one this year, among 34 countries, more 11 than the second place.
The RIEP is an annual initiative of INDEG-ISCTE Executive Education in collaboration with the “Núcleo de Estratégia e Negócios Internacionais” (Center of Strategy and International Businesses) of “Fundação Dom Cabral” (Dom Cabral Foundation) and the institutional support of aicep Portugal Global. It assumes the goals of monitoring the process of internationalization of Portuguese enterprises, the disclosure of a group of indicators that reflect the evolution of its international activity, the characterization of internationalization strategies and the management practices that support it and, finally, the promotion of the creation of relevant knowledge for the development of an international dimension of enterprises.
TAP’s rise to the first place in the matter of the number of countries is the recognition of the Company’s strategy, that has been reinforcing its presence in new markets, in particular the North-American one.
