TWO BE TRENDY is a fashion blog described by its authors as a “light and fun dairy by two friends passionate about fashion, travel, food and fitness”. One of the authors is Raquel Rodrigues, who has been a TAP Flight Attendant for 15 years.
This is the second project under the “Blogs with Wings” heading, after Voar sem Escalas by Elsa Fragata.
We spoke with Raquel to find out more about the project and to know where there is space for fashion in TAP.
We will start by talking about you. Who is Raquel Rodrigues? How long have you been at TAP? And why? How about your time with the company? How do you feel about your job?
My passion for travel and my friends in aviation began 15 years ago when I arrived at TAP. For the first five years I worked at TAP I was an attendant on medium-haul flights, while for the past 10 I have been on long-haul flights. I still love my job as much as I did the day I started.
How did TWO BE TRENDY come about?
TWO BE TRENDY was started in partnership with my friend, Inês Costa, and reflects the things that interest us most: fashion, travel and healthy lifestyles.
Many aviation professionals have personal projects focusing on aviation. This is not the case with TWO BE TRENDY. Why are you so passionate about fashion?
I have always been interested in fashion. I love clothes. I love to watch the trends, create looks and offer tips to friends who are going to a party or on a special night out. Alongside fashion, another of my passions is travel, and my job has allowed me to see a large part of the world and several cultures.
Talking of fashion, how do you feel when you put on your TAP uniform?
Unlike the majority of airline uniforms, TAP’s is not monotonous. It has a large number of items that can be put together in many ways. We can always vary the look.
TAP’s latest safety video goes over some moments in TAP’s history, including crew uniforms. What do you think of them today?
TAP’s uniforms have always been beautiful, classic and timeless. They can be worn today without problem.
You work with TAP passengers every day; do you think the image of crew members is important for promoting a good image of the company? Why?
Crew member presentation is important, because we are on the front line, because we are the ones who are in contact with the passengers. This is why it is very important for us to be careful with our presentation, because the passengers see us as a reflection of the company.
