The afternoon was rainy, but the plane landed home. TAP received the first Airbus A321 Long Range, the next-generation aircraft, making it the first airline in the world to operate simultaneously the Airbus A330neo and the Airbus A321LR.
The aircraft, with registration number CS-TXA, departed from Hamburg, where one of the Airbus plants is located, after a week of delivery work - where TAP, Airbus and ANAC teams worked together, a week that ended with the signature of the official documentation and a ceremony sponsored by the manufacturer. The aircraft landed at Humberto Delgado Airport - Lisbon, where a reception was waiting for it at Hangar 6. Present on this historic day were TAP CEO, Antonoaldo Neves, and TAP Group Chairman, Miguel Frasquilho, as well as prominent national figures, which included the Minister of Infrastructures and Housing, Pedro Nuno Santos. Fundamental to this historical moment of the Company were the elements of the team that brought the plane to Lisbon and that accompanied the whole process, which will culminate only with the ANAC certification, to be obtained already in Lisbon.

The new airplane, named after the Portuguese philosopher and poet Agostinho da Silva, is TAP's first narrow body capable of operating transatlantic routes, offering the premium comfort of a long-haul plane. It has the capacity to carry up to 168 passengers and reinforces the operation of the medium and long-haul TAP in combination with the Airbus A330neo. It is also the first of 14 aircrafts of this model, ordered to Airbus, to arrive at the Company.
On Friday afternoon, many TAP Employees wanted to see the arrival of the new TAP family member and joined at Hangar 6 to take their place at this historic moment for the Company.
In a speech, Miguel Frasquilho, Antonoaldo Neves and Pedro Nuno Santos highlighted the historic day that has been marked, which will allow TAP to grow even more sustainably. The Chairman and CEO also thanked the effort, dedication and professionalism of all the Company teams that worked to make this day happen, a reason of pride for the Company as well as for Portugal.
